Multicultural Kitchen- Cooking Traditional Japanese Oyakodon Dish

  • Sunshine Coast Welcoming Communities 5627 Inlet Avenue Sechelt, BC, V0N 3A3 Canada (map)

This event aims to integrate newcomers and locals within the Coast community by sharing the simple pleasures of preparing traditional recipes, family food secrets, and coming together to eat. This month we present:

Oyakodon (親子丼), literally "parent-and-child donburi", is a donburi, or Japanese rice bowl dish, in which chicken, egg, sliced scallion (or sometimes regular onions), and other ingredients are all simmered together in a kind of soup that is made with soy sauce and stock, and then served on top of a large bowl of rice. The name of the dish is a poetic reflection of both chicken and egg being used in the dish.

In this cooking event, Yuko will be leading the participants on how to prepare and cook Traditional Japanese Oyakodon.

We welcome everyone. We want to bring people together, enjoy food and have fun!
