We are promoting Cultural Diversity through food. The program recognizes that participants have diverse food traditions and practices. Cooking together encourages participants to learn about different foods from other countries. It is one of the best ways to connect with other cultures.
This event aims to integrate Sunshine Coast newcomers and locals by sharing the simple pleasures of preparing traditional recipes, family food secrets, and then coming together to eat.
Lubia Polo also known as Loobia Polo is a delicious dish- a mixed rice recipe layered with green beans, spiced ground beef meat, herbs, tomato sauce and infused with saffron.
In the Persian language, loobia means bean while polo is a style of cooked rice, known in English as pilaf. It is made by sautéing onion with a touch of turmeric or cumin powder followed by mixing the beef, then adding the cooked green beans with salt and pepper. You can always add cinnamon for an extra sense of flavour. This is then layered with half-cooked rice in another pot and steamed until done.
In this cooking event, Sanam will be leading the participants on how to prepare and cook Iranian Traditional Lubia Polo.
