Produce Harvest Time at the Botanical Gardens

The large vegetable garden in the Botanical Garden is run by volunteers who plant, tend, and harvest produce for the local Food Bank, donating more than 1000 lbs per year.

Welcoming Communities has been engaged in annual volunteer produce harvesting since 2024. This is an activity that creates opportunities to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and promotes interpersonal connections while contributing to the community. Through these interactions, volunteers gain a deeper appreciation of diversity and develop language skills that help them communicate with individuals from different cultures, all while sharing the same passion and gardening skills.
